Create a brand to reflect the high quality bean to bar chocolate

Define each bar and features - identify what makes the experience of Loon Chocolate unique
The Process
This project began with a customized in-depth questionnaire to better understand my client, the business, and the long-term goals. Loon Chocolate had been in business a few years but was ready to move to the next level. After completing the questionnaire I was able to create a project roadmap. The first step was designing a new brand - this included logo design, font selection, colors, custom illustrated icons, and defining the companies philosophy. Upon digging in I realized the product had SO many amazing features that weren’t being highlighted anywhere. This included ethical trading, small batch made, small farms, organic ingredients, gluten-free, soy-free, and often vegan. Being such critical features I designed engaging typography icons for each.
Once branding was complete we had the toolkit to inform all projects moving forward - packaging and website.
Customized Solutions
In addition to the custom branding, all packaging designs are also unique and custom to Loon Chocolate. Working with manufacturers both overseas and within the states I designed not only the print design but the box for the chocolate bars. The pillow design is unique and makes the product feel that much more special vs a paper with foil or a plain square box. This design also gives the bar a little more protection in transit.
Once packaging was complete we moved on to a customized Shopify site. This platform allows for CSS updates while keeping the backend easy for the team at Loon to use day to day. The result of the new site was an immediate increase in sales as the previous site was buggy and not mobile optimized. This solution also gives the availability to scale to a B2B platform.
Define & Refine
The branding project included mockups of what the packaging could potentially look like - this got the conversation started about information architecture. The line can be broken up into 2 categories - single origin and flavored. Once we had organized the products a template could be made for each line and applied. Additionally I created an information architecture structure that serves as a template for all products moving forward. This includes the dietary features the product falls under as well as flavor profile.
